Start with people and script
Do not assume that an English interface, a Serbian Latin interface or a Serbian Cyrillic interface fits every audience. Name the primary users, their tasks, their preferred script and the person who owns the words. If two scripts are required, define whether content is authored twice, transliterated, or managed from a shared source—and who reviews the result.
Test real Serbian names and diacritics, not placeholder text. Search, sorting, slugs, email templates, PDFs and exports must all preserve the chosen characters. Phone fields should accept the formats the project actually uses, including Serbia's +381 country code. Addresses should be tested with actual local examples supplied or approved by the operator.
Map the organisation, not a stereotype
A Serbia connection may mean a Serbia-registered company, a US company serving Serbian customers, a distributed team, a nonprofit programme, or a system used by partners in several countries. Those are different projects. Record the contracting entity, service territory, support owner, content owner, data controller decisions and any local professional review the engagement needs.
Use public signals carefully
The Statistical Office publishes official information on enterprise use of internet access, websites, e-commerce, eGovernment, social networks and artificial intelligence. Those figures can frame discovery, but they do not replace interviews or prove demand for a particular product. The Serbian Business Registers Agency provides public registration services and company information; verify the legal identity that will appear in terms, invoices and notices.
Acceptance cases worth writing early
- A person can complete the primary task using the intended Serbian script and keyboard.
- Names, addresses, currencies, dates and exported files remain accurate through the whole workflow.
- A customer can identify the real provider, price basis, support route and cancellation or refund path.
- The responsible Serbia-side person can approve content, rules and release evidence.
- The system has a usable failure state when a translation, payment, integration or automated decision is unavailable.
